| Welcome to Life Spring’s Frequently Asked Question Page! Let me introduce you to what’s ahead. |
| I
remember going to Church for a lot of years and having questions
about things but not really knowing how to go about getting them
answered. So we designed Life Spring as a place where the honest
seeker of truth could ask any question about any topic from theology
to sexuality. We believe that if we can’t ask questions in CHURCH,
then we’ve significantly reduced the probability of getting GODLY
answers to those questions. The following questions have been
collected from individuals over the years. We are committed to finding answers to your questions. We hold to a faith that we believe is absolutely reasonable and based on objective fact. We further believe that, not only can those facts be questioned, but that God invites the honest truth seeker to ask them. He says, “ASK and IT WILL BE GIVEN to you; SEEK and YOU WILL FIND; knock and the door will be opened to you. {8} For EVERYONE WHO ASKS RECEIVES; HE WHO SEEKS FINDS; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” — Matthew 7:7-8 (NIV) |
| We believe that Christianity is a FAITH venture in the same way that
nuclear physics is a faith venture. I cannot directly SEE gravity or
quantum particles. The way we discover what this universe is made
of, is to ask the right questions and then observe the universe as
it answers them. The way we discover God is by asking the right
questions and then listening to Him as He answers them.
In both
cases, we check the answers compared to what we already know to be
true and then we either CHOOSE to believe or CHOOSE to reject the
new information. THAT’S what we mean by FAITH at Life Spring. |
| Let me offer two disclaimers up
front. First, I am not God. I have done my best to present His
answers to the questions that people have asked based on my
understanding of His Word in the Bible. I offer anything I say
here, and anywhere, to correction from the Truth presented in the
Scriptures. Furthermore, I don’t always like His answers. They
aren’t always the answer I would give. They aren’t always the most
convenient or comfortable. But after more than 25 years of
following the teachings of the Bible, I can say with confidence
that they are always right. Finally, I believe the 66 books of the Bible present Truth in propositional form. Meaning that I believe the Bible is to be taken literally within its historical, cultural and grammatical context. That although the Bible writers relied heavily upon symbolic language and literary styles, for each statement made, there was one single specific truth that was meant to be communicated and the writer presents that statement as being absolutely true. Consequently, my answers will come out of this worldview. |
